psycho kitty...

please pray for psycho kitty...or eliot as I have renamed him.
eliot came to us last night via the rescue cat lady across the street.
"could you keep him overnight in your attic?"
(attic, as in my office, reading room, t.v. room, cozy homey space)

"of course we can"
(NOTE TO SELVES: REMEMBER TO ASK WHY??? WHY CAN'T SAID KITTY STAY OVERNIGHT AT YOUR HOUSE?)

we take eliot upstairs, prepare a litter box, fresh water, food, and a special can of stinky wet food to welcome him.

poor psycho eliot. he hasn't stopped wandering around the room and growling since 8:00 last night. I slept up here on the futon, to try and keep him company. uhh, wait. let me say I laid down on the futon, but I did NOT sleep all night. Neither did beloved, one floor below behind two closed doors. eliot is rather LOUD.

he rubs up against my legs, and growls. he wants me to scritch his ears, and growls.

clearly, he is so disoriented. clearly, transitions are extremely hard for him. poor kitty.

pray for him to orient fast!

I know he will settle in ....but wow, he is going to be a hard one to find a permanent foster, let alone permanent home.

he is gorgeous, though.

guess I will be spending the day in the attic to keep him company in his disorientation. sigh.

spooky sighting!

so, we have had a feral kitten living in our basement for the past three months. long story on how she got there. we feed her everynight, and she eats all her food, drinks water, and uses the litter box.
however, we have never seen her since the first day we took her in, when she escaped from her kennel. I named her Spooky.
but finally, last night,
we were able to trap her.
I am so relieved she hasn't turned into a one-eyed ghosty light depraved monster. She just is scared, wild, and fierce.
And a cute calico kitty.

Not sure what we will do with her now.

I am just glad to see her.

Lucky buns

So Lucky is our oldest cat. He was almost named Bullet, because he was found by the side of the road, shot by someone who I guess didn't want him sleeping in his hay in the barn any more (Hey, wait, aren't barn cats good for like, keeping the barn mice population under control???) I digress. A wonderful, skilled vet saved his life, but had to leave the bullet in him. You can feel it. Anyway, that was years ago, and Lucky has lived to the ripe age of 13 or 14 (not exactly sure). He is snow white with blue eyes (you can only see him curled up in the picture). He has become a bit senile the past few months, and walks around the house with a dog toy or sock stuffed in his mouth, meaowing, which is muffled, and sounds more like a trumpet. He walks in circles doing this. Is he hiding his babies? His prey? I don't know, but it is the funniest sound, and I love that he does that. He is the crabbiest, loudest, sweetest old man cat here.

a Sunday prayer....

for being open
to letting go...
and allowing You,
sweet breeze of Spirit
to infuse
to restore
to renew
my heart, body, soul, and mind.
Amen.

cats, cats, and more cats

Some of the cats at my house were a little ticked off when they realized their pictures weren't posted yet on the blog.

Cali loves her bling, especially pearls. Lucy... and Barley(pictured twice in a row
because he is so cute and perhaps sort of because I can't figure out how to delete one)are a little camera shy...or maybe just sleepy lazy bones...hmmm....whoops!!!
these last two aren't cats! They Are Very Important Imperial Poodles!
Shhh, don't wake them...they bark like crazy at the wind!!
